Saudi Arabia through “Saudi Welcome to Arabia” , a vibrant consumer brand dedicated to sharing Saudi Arabia with the world and welcoming travellers to explore all the country has launched a campaign to showcase the Kingdom events fronted by football star Cristiano Ronaldo, famous professional footballer who plays as a forward for and captains both Saudi Pro League club Al – Nassr and the Portugal national team.
Launching across key markets in Europe, as well as India, and China, the campaign titled “I Came for Football, I Stayed For More” brings to life Saudi lifestyle and culture, highlighting the essence and soul of the Arab country combined with its extended season of sports, entertainment, film, fashion, and cultural events.
Featuring CR7, a five - time Ballon d’ Or winner, who in 2020 became the first active team - sport athlete to surpass $1 billion in career earnings, a global sport influencer, recognized for his unprecedented social media following (over 1 billion) endorsement deals, and ability to connect with a vast audience beyond just football, Saudi Arabia takes the advantage with the popularity of the Portuguese star to showcase a film taking viewers on a journey through the country’s cornerstone events.
The campaign featuring Cristiano Ronaldo highlights diverse, year - round sports and entertainment events held across the capital of the country Riyadh, Jeddah and AlUla, with curated packages making it easier to visit.
As hosts of the FIFA World Cup 2034, AFC Asian Cup 2027, Esports Olympics Games 2027, and Asian Winter Games 2029 among others, Saudi Arabia has a big focus on global sports, establishing itself as a leading destination now and in the years to come.
Its regular calendar includes major international events such as the Esports World Cup, Formula 1, LIV Golf Riyadh, Tennis, and Saudi Pro League (RSL).

CEO of the Saudi Tourism Authority, Fahd Hamidaddin added that the campaign with CR7 is a showcase of Saudi Arabia today, and the Kingdom’s ambitions. Tourism is a core component of country’s vision which is continuing to expand its offerings.
Cristiano Ronaldo said that being part of Saudi’s journey as a sports hub has been truly special, and is in this country where future of sports is being written.
Saudi Arabia is investing to become a global event destination, as part of its Vision 2030 goal of diversifying the economy and expanding the tourism sector. The country has committed $800 billion to the sector which is projected to reach $22.4 billion in market value and contribute $16.5 billion to GDP by 2030.
