PROMPERÚ – Avianca | Strategic Partnership to Promote Perù as a Global Destination

 

PROMPERÚ, the Peruvian Commission for Promotion of Export and Tourism, official entity for the promotion and marketing of Peru as a tourist destination, responsible to establish long - term business relationships with tour operators and the media in all relevant source markets and Avianca, the national and largest airline of Colombia well known to be the second oldest airline in the world have signed a strategic partnership to promote Perù as a global, tourist destination.

The two organizations have signed a strategic alliance to promote the Peru as a tourist destination in the markets of Canada, Colombia, the United States and the United Kingdom with the aim of implementing strategic plans aimed at increasing tourist movements that benefits both, the Andean country and the Colombian airline.

As part of the actions focused on partnership and promotion of the attractions of the regions there are the capital Lima in the central coast of Peru and Cusco in the southeastern territory in a campaign that will be carried out on various digital platforms and traditional media, also giving visibility to El Dorado International Airport of the Colombian capital Bogotá as an operational hub of high relevance and London Heathrow Airport in Great Britain with the aim of achieving an exposure of more than 76 million impacts.

Taking into account the statistics of Peruvian incoming tourism, to better understand the strategies of PROMPERÚ, the South American country between January and August 2024 received 2.178.300 international visitors of which 606.683 representing the 27.8% of the international markets where Peru is very interested and aligned with its plans linked to this initiative launched in partnership with Avianca the intention to expand its promotion and campaign in these countries.

With the support of international air connectivity from other airport hubs with a significant strategic geographical position and a relevant traffic, these cooperative projects are essential to continue to promote and develop furthermore connectivity increasing the mobilization of international travellers towards the destination and directy linked to all that undoubtedly Avianca plays a very important role.

This initiative as a tourism promotion campaign is in addition to other actions carried out in 2024 by  PROMPERÚ which launched the famous "Peru Wow" which aims to strength the country image as a diversified, unique and always amazing tourist destination and that word "Wow" as distinctive symbol appeals to the surprise and fascination that tourists express when they discover the wonders of the country.

"Peru Wow" since the beginning of its launch has sought to capture the attention of potential visitors in key markets such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, France, Germany, Great Britain, Mexico, Spain and the United States of America.

PROMPERÚ's campaigns, promotions and plans align with Avianca's purposes as a leading airline in Colombia, Ecuador and Central America having resources to offer Peru as a valuable partner in Latin America by providing greater access and connectivity to and from the Americas and this is also why this strategic partnership was born.

A clear example of all that is the connectivity offer provided to travellers by the Colombian airline boasts an offer of 28 weekly frequencies between Bogotá and Lima thus providing multiple daily options for tourists with these numerous connections between the two South American capitals.

In addition, Avianca has four weekly frequencies to Cusco, which means a direct access to one of the main Peruvian destinations, a centre declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO at only 75.0 kilometers from the famed Macchu Picchu,  iconic 15th century Inca citadel situated in the Eastern Cordillera of southern Peru another UNESCO world Heritage site since 1983.

In conclusion, this partnership between PROMPERÚ and Avianca also offer another advantages allowing Peruvian travellers to connect via Bogotá hub with the rest of South America and other regions of the world through its more than 150 routes.
