Madrid, Spain's capital, a city characterized by stylish boulevards, elegant squares, boasting a large variety of museums and galleries, expansive, manicured parks flanked by superb, neoclassical buildings, the political centre of the country hosting the seat ofr the government and the residence of the Spanish monarch, the second largest metropolis in the European Union after Berlin with a notable influence in politics, education, science and the arts which contributes to its status as one of the world's major global cities will host the third edition of WSTC 2024, the World Sports Tourism Congress from 28th to 29th November 2024.
The event is organised by UN Tourism and the Government of the Community of Madrid and will take place at the iconic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium situated in Avenida Concha Espina in the administrative district of Chamartin featuring the presence of leading figures in sports and tourism who will explore and debate the future of the sector on global scale.
Over two days the event will be focused under the theme "Tourism and Sport : Creating a Lasting Legacy for Destinations" the congress will once again bring together leading characters from the sport and tourism to share innovative ideas, great experiences and knowledge on the subjects, including its economic impact, its contribution to the SDGs, Sustainable Development Goals and strategies to effectively promote destinations through sporting events and sponsorships.
Sports tourism is a key driver, generating around 10% of global tourism spending, can promote social, economic and environmental action, accelerate development, leaving a lasting positive legacy.
For all that this year the World Sports Tourism Congress has created a very complete experience and the event will include keynote lectures and round tables with the relevant contribution of first – hand key players in the world of tourism and sports.
The programme will focus on the future of tourism and sport from all points of view, analysing all possibilities.
The Programme of World Sports Tourism Congress will cover the following topics:
