The Azores – Portugal | Regional Plan with Significant Investment in the Tourism Sector

 

The Azores, archipelago of volcanic origin located in the North Atlantic Ocean that constitutes one of the two autonomous regions of Portugal with Madeira, approximately 1.450 kilometres west of the capital of the country Lisbon and part of the outermost regions ofr the European Union according to the Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructure of the Regional Government will concentrate over €338 million of investments in 2025.

The announcement was promulgated by the Regional Secretary Berta Cabral who in a press release specified that the tourism area will have an investment of more than €19.0 million.

In this sector, pragmatic and assertive action will be taken on the key points of regulation, on the value chain of the sector and on the qualification of the Azores destination once the path traced has produced excellent results.

Other lines of program related to the international promotion of the destination and the diversification of air connectivity, enhancing the expansion of the operations of the airlines that already fly to the Azores archipelago will be other strategic lines to follow.

Another relevant objective for 2025 will be to mitigate seasonality and distribute tourist flows throughout the territory of the Azores, with the fundamental objective of having tourism all year round on all the islands of the archipelago

These operations have as their priority the execution of the investments of the RRP, Recovery and Resilience Plan in various sectors as well as other fundamental actions for the social, economic and territorial cohesion of the Region.
