Growing tourism and optimism in the Canton of Ticino – Switzerland

Incoming tourism in the Canton of Ticino is experiencing positive moments. The year 2023 ended with the huge figure of almost 2,0 million overnight stays, a date that shows a + 6.4% compared to the previous period of the pandemic.

In 2024, the Canton of Ticino firmly wants to confirm those results and in this regard there is already an increase equivalent to 0.4% for what concerns arrivals.

The analyzes carried out by the bodies responsible of the tourism economy of the Swiss canton, including the UST, the federal statistics office, reveal that there are already elements that provide optimal prospects todat and regarding the near future.

One of the main points that is underlined is certainly the strength of the Swiss franc, furthermore strategic plans have been established regarding inflation and all the related issues especially those relating to the purchasing power of all tourists and in particularly those coming from abroad.

Although there are concerns about the prolonged closure of the Gotthard tunnel, the Canton of Ticino in partnership with the four regional institutions and the FFS has launched a large-scale promotional campaign in the autumn period which translates into hotel discounts in specially selected facilities and trips free with public transport to reach the Canton of Ticino.

Undoubtedly the Canton of Ticino is working diligently for a year, 2024 which has growth prospects and this fascinating challenge for the local institutions is already in action.
