Sabre | Constant Increase of Booking Fees

Sabre Global Distribution System part of Sabre Corporation's well-known reservation system used by travel agents and research companies to verify, evaluate, book and then purchase tickets for travel services, hotels, car rentals, rail operators, tour operators and airlines has reported that booking fees have a constant increase.

According to the information disclosed by the group, the average booking commission via Sabre was $5.81 in the first quarter of the year, an increase of 7% compared to the year 2023 in the same period.

The senior members of the group have announced that this increase is due to a from the increment in the volume of corporate travel. During the company's first-quarter earnings call the CFO Mike Randolfi attributed that increase to the growing volume of this segment.

Sabre's average booking rate has increased steadily over the past few quarters and it has emerged that there has been an optimal mix in travel patterns, in the airline mix which is also confirmed in the first three months of 2024.

The geographical area that increased the average booking commission was the Asia-Pacific region. The Chairman of Sabre said the number was also supported by booking fees, which exceeded the average for "non-air" bookings, which increased by around 8% over the year.

Revenue for the first three months was reported at $783 million, an increase of + 5%, while the group's operating profit was revealed to be $98 million, which revealed that there was a loss of $213,000 in the first quarter phase.

In conclusion the CEOs said they expect Sabre's average booking fee to remain close to $5.81.
