Nuevo León | Emerging Tourist Hub in Mexico


Nuevo León, a state in northeastern Mexico limited to the north by the Rio Bravo, with an extremely narrow border with the US state of Texas, is rising as a major tourist hub, according to data reported by the State Ministry of Tourism, which has recorded exponential growth after the increasing of previous years.

Compared to recent years, this Mexican state is experiencing a boom in hikers who enjoy all the tourist attractions offered by the territory where the majestic Cerro de la Silla stands, a mountain and natural monument that is part of the Sierra Madre Oriental foothill system.

This mount, an iconic symbol of the city of Monterrey and its inhabitants, is made up of four peaks, is transforming the state of  Nuevo León into a hub of the highest importance, according to the analysis of the Ministry of Tourism led by Maricarmen Martinez Villareal, who shared his most relevant indicators of the summer season, highlighting this growth with data that reflect the activity of local visitors,national and international for the state.

The percentage of hotel occupancy in the July-August summer season, compared to the 16% that existed in the state in 2020, has gradually increased per year, with 44, 62 and 65% with an estimation to reach 67% in 2024 and with projections set to continue growing until 2026.

As for the flow of percentage of visitors who stayed in the same period, the Mexican state is set to reach its highest lelvel since 2008 with currently 576,000 tourist guests in hotels.

The Ministry of Tourism also predicts an economic impact of 6 billion pesos that will be left only by tourists stays in hotels.in the state and which are estimated figures based on the trend of data and expectations in summer season in the months of July and August in this 2024.
