Castilla y León | Leading Community in Rural Tourism in Spain

 

The autonomous community of Castilla y León, a territory located in the northern part of the Central Plateau of the Iberian Peninsula, corresponding largely to the Spanish part of the Douro river basin, consolidated its national leadership in the ranking in june as far as rural tourism is concerned, registering 72.817 confirmed visitors, a result that surpasses the Balearic Islands, which are in second position with 66.758 visits.

This represents an increase of 0.76% compared to 2023, below the 4.54% increase recorded throughout Spain, where the volume of visitors reached a total of 456.854.

These data come from the survey on the occupancy of non-hotel accommodation facilities carried out and published by INE, the National Institute of Statistics, which has released other detailed information.

One of them specifies that 63.119 visitors who went to Castilla y León were residents in Spain and 9.699 came from abroad.

Further statistical data concern overnight stays in Castilla y León recorded 149.528 last June which exceeded the 144.622 in 2023.

In the ranking regarding overnight stays about Spanish communities, Castilla y León with these data ranked second behind the Balearic Islands which record 225.920.

Although this figure is 2.2 points lower than the national evolution which reached 5.6% with a total of 1.118.696 overnight stays.

The average length of stay in rural tourism accommodation in Castilla y León was 2.05 days, less than the 2.45 days recorded in the whole of Spain.
