North Korea | Hypothesis of Opening to International Tourism

North Korea, officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Asian socialist state characterized by its planned economic system developed around the Kim dynasty, known for its hermeticism, has launched some faint signs of openness to international tourism through two Tour Operators.

These two travel companies are Ktg Tours, which organizes low-cost trips in the country with group departures and tailor-made tours for fully customized individuals, and Koryo Tours, a group with thirty years of experience that operates both at the incoming and outgoing level and specialized in activities as cycling and educational tours.

The two Tour Operators have announced that there would be possibilities starting from next December.

According to reports from the tourist information portal Travelmole, at the moment only one destination would be accessible and it is Samjiyon, a city located in the province of Ryanggang at the foot of Mount Paetku, a popular destination for winter sports.

The two Tour Operators said they are confident that the capital Pyongyang and other cities will soon be able to enter into to the tourist circuits but there is still no clarity at the moment which countries in terms of tourist market about incoming operations will be able to have access to North Korea.
