The Chestnut Group | Acquisition of a Traditional Hotel in Norfolk – England

 

The Hospitality society The Chestnut which runs a collection of hotels, inns, pubs and restaurants in East Anglia, has acquired a traditional and historic seaside hotel in North Norfolk - England, adding it to its "Big Houses" collection.

The British group winner of the Pub and Bar Award at Cateys 2023, a prestigious award of hospitality as part of its continued expansion has added the famous Hotel Le Strange Arms to its portfolio for an undisclosed sum.

 The traditional Hotel home to the iconic Mariner Pub is located at Old Hunstamnton on Golf Course Road a quite village on a ravishing coastline of North Norfolk providing 60 tastefully furnished rooms, self-catering lodges and direct access to the beach.

This hotel will become part of the latest "Big Houses" division of the Chestnut Group along with the recently acquired Old Bridge Hotel in Huntington and the Maltings in Weybourne due to be listed in August.

Group Founder and CEO Philip Turner enthusiastically announced the acquisition of this iconic hotel, underlining that the Norfolk region is strategically very important for the group's growth ambitions.

The CEO added that he had known the property for many years and felt honoured to have the opportunity to lead the Hotel Le Strange Arms and the Pub Mariner on the next leg of their journey.

In the last decade, the expansion of the Chestnut group has grown exponentially, consolidating with 17 pubs and about 200 rooms in terms of accommodation, employing about 250 people, with also a division dedicated to wine, having acquired Peter Graham Wines in 2023 and the independent specialist Bijou Wine Merchant in 2024.
