La Mamounia – Marrakech | Number One Hotel in North Africa and Eleventh in the World

This year the two Condé Nast Traveler titles have been split, offering different awards and La Mamounia has triionfate in both the American and British rankings.

The Conde Nast Traveler Reader's Choice Awards are a global benchmark for excellence in the travel and tourism industry with millions of readers around the world voting annually for their favorite hotels, restaurants, airlines and destinations.

This is the fourth time La Mamounia has received this regional recognition and the splitting of the Reader's Choice Awards into two separate editions marks a new phase in celebrating travellers' region-specific preferences.

This double distinction is undoubtedly a tribute to the "Great Lady" as the hotel is affectionately nicknamed by her guests who for 100 years has embodied the elegance and charm of Moroccan hospitality.

In addition to all this, La Mamounia was recently recognized as the 31st best hotel in the world by The World 50 Best Hotels 2024.

This superb five-star hotel, symbol of the traditional Moroccan hospitality, hailed for its opulent and inspiring atmosphere, combining a vibrant yet serene décor that captivate every guest with luxury, nestled in large park opposite the historic Kutubiyya Mosque, is widely regarded as one of the best hotels globally and marketed by the Leading Hotels of the World.

Situated along Avenue Bab Jid Facing the Atlas Mountains, the hotel lies in the heart of the historic centre of Marrakech, to west opposite the historic Kutubiyya Mosque and like this religious building, the Majorelle Garden and the Jemaa el – Fna square this palace is considered by many to be a "mythical place in in the city.

Owned by the city of Marrakech and the Moroccan Caisse des Dépôts, Mamounia means "safe haven" or"reservoir" in the Arabic language.

From the 1950onwards la Mamounia was used more refularly for film shoots and the hotel is an important venue for the Marrakech International Film Festival.
