Choice Hotels International, Inc, American multinational hospitality company founded in 1939, based in North Bethesda - Maryland - U.S, one of the largest chains in the world which owns various hotel brands ranging from upscale to economy has developed a strategic agreement with Faranda Hotels & Resorts, group based in Madrid with a strong presence in Latin America and over 40 years of experience in the sector, expanding the portfolio in Northern Spain by adding 8 hotels for a total of more than 700 rooms.
The hotels are located in the northern provinces of Spain, Galicia, Asturias and Cantabria and are located in important cities such as Gijón, La Coruña, Santander and Santiago de Compostela.
Two other hotels are currently undergoing complete renovations and are scheduled to open in summer 2025.
With the support of Choice Hotels, Faranda Hotels & Resorts is currently undertaking a program to renovate and upgrade these hotels to implement the hallmarks of Choice Hotels' Ascend Hotel Collection brand, a brand made uo of one -of one - of - a- kind, independent resort, boutique and historic hotels that reflect the unique identy and essence of their communities.
Choice Hotels CEO David Beers commented that the extension of the current partnership with Faranda Hotels is another big step in line with the group's strategy for international expansion.
Spain is a key market for Choice Hotels and thanks to this agreement the Ascent Hotel Collection brand will be able to expand significantly throughout Spain in the coming months.
There is great expectation to continue to expand the presence in the country in the coming years with great enthusiasm to work closely with Faranda Hotels & Resorts and to consider other opportunities in line with the group's joint growth strategies.
Faranda Hotels & Resorts will convert and operate these new hotels in partnership with Choice Hotels, benefiting from Choice Hotels' franchise network that includes avant - garde cloud-based solutions, as the choiceEDGE guest booking platform that helps franchisees effectively manage room rates, distribution channels and inventory.
This new agreement in Spain extends the existing franchise relationship between Choice Hotels and Faranda Hotels & Resorts in South America which will now include 22 hotels with nearly 2,400 rooms with the two hotel companies aiming to grow further in Spain.
Faranda Hotels & Resorts' Chief Commercial Officer Carlos Fernández commented that after the successful results achieved alongside Choice Hotels in Latin America, the company firmly believes that this new phase of collaboration in Spain is a natural step to strengthen this partnership.
The more than 40 years of history in the hospitality industry in Spain perfectly complements the vision of Choice Hotels and together there is great enthusiasm to grow further and offer memorable experiences in every hotel belonging to the group.
