Puerto Natales is a place steeped in a culinary heritage influenced by the Patagonian landscape and mountains, fjords, canals and pampas and the WFTA's rigorous evaluation process assessed the area unique's attributes, traditions, and commitment to food elite.
This great achievement represents an important milestone for the city, the province and Chile as whole by integrating Puerto Natales into the global network of culinary tourism destinations.
WFTA Ambassador of Chile, Dalma Diaz Pinto highlighted the impact of this designation declaring that the Culinary Capitals programme provides an unbiased audit of a destination's culinary culture and its readiness to attract culinary travellers.
These travellers usually contribute on average 25% more to the local economy than traditional tourists and the Association welcome Puerto Natales to its international network.
