Wilderness Rwanda, hospitality and tourism group led by Manzi
Kayihura unveiled Bisate Reserve, a superb and exclusive property adjacent to
Volcanoes National Park, a vast territory spanning on a 160 square kilometres
area in the Northern part of Rwanda, a land of the great Virunga volcano
conservation region in the far northwest of the country, an accommodation that
offers luxury for gorilla – trekking enthusiast nd multiple outdoor activities.
This comfortable and intimate lodge can host only eight guests in a complex consisting in four thatched villas, each providing private decks with hot tubs, fireplaces and a spectacular 360 - degree view of all six Virunga volcanoes, a stunning mountainous chain, a branch of the Albertine Rift Mountains in East Africa where Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo meet.
The property a sister lodge to the existing Wilderness Bisate Lodge was designed by the architect Nick Plewman and the interior designer Caline Williams - Wynn using traditional materials such as timber, thatch, hand - chipped volcanic rock and local basketry among others.
Facilities include a mud room developed for trek preparation, a climate – controlled wine tower and the exclusive Biate Kwanda day lounge.
The lodge offers both private in - villa dining and communal experiences with the culinary concept led by the Executive chef Angelus Karangwa who emphasized the traditional African flavours using sourced ingredients coming from two on - site kitchen gardens.
The lodge also represents a very significant conservation investment, with Wilderness Rwanda having planted over 100.000 trees to transform the space of 42 - hectare concession from farmland to forest.
Beyond gorilla – trekking, guests can enjoy other activities such as mountain climbing and hiking to Dian Fossey's former center, golden monkey - viewing and cultural experiences with local artist Rigobert Uwidhuaye, whose gorilla artwork is displayed throughout the property.
The Wilderness Rwanda Chairman Manzi Kayihura commented that the core mission here is to transcend luxury hospitality to embrace a profound commitment to conservation.
