Capital A Berhad operating as AirAsia, Malaysian mid - range low - cost airline founded in 1993 and commencing operations in 1996 headquartred near Kuala Lumpur, operating primarily in the Asia - Pacific region with scheduled and international flights plans to create low – cost hubs in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand and Kuala Lumpur, capital and major centre of Malaysia.
The airline aims to replicate Dubai’s success in connecting the world, according to Executive Director & CEO Tony Fernandes.
Despite pandemic setbacks the AirAsia Heas expects a full recovery by next year and foresees 2026 as the industry’s “golden year” with geopolitical shifts driving regional travel within Asia.
In addition to bringing connecting traffic through the planned hubs in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, AirAsia also anticipates growth by expanding more traffic to secondary destinations as the example of flights from Chiang Mai, city situated in northern Thailand, 700 kilometres north of Bangkok in the mountainous region called the Thai highlands to China.
