Vietnam, country at the eastern edge of mainland Southeast Asia, enhances its tourist initiatives with an offer consisting in a vintage steam train which will tour the country in 2025 and travellers will have the opportunity to step back in time enjoying this captivating experience on board of one of these classic steam trains.
Reports informed that restored steam trains from the 1960s will begin their journey between Da Nang, city situated on the western bank of the Han River on the coast of the South China Sea and one of the country's most important ports and Hue, historic city in central Vietnam that was the seat of Nguyen Dinasty emperors and the national capital from 1802 to 1945, offering passengers a nostalgic adventure with a touch of luxury.
Thus, it has been known that this restoration project, carried out by some of the last remaining steam engineers in Vietnam, aims to preserve the historical essence of these vintage trains while offering modern comforts.
This trip will included themed dining experiences at three key stops such as Kim Lien, a village in the district of the previously mentioned Da Nang, also known to be the childhood home of the former president of Vietnam Ho Chi Minh, Lang Co, captivating village in central Vietnam, between Lap An Lagoon and the sea, well known for its long, sandy beach and seafood stalls and the above mentioned Hue.
With menus inspired by local flavours and heritage, these stops promise to transform a simple train into into an inspiring culinary journey through the cultural tapestry of the captivating central Vietnam.
For the Vietnamese travel industry, this initiative is very significant, as it highlights the growing trend of experiential tourism, offering travellers looking for unique and immersive experiences something very special on board of this train which aligns perfectly with that demand.
