During the New Year holiday period approximately 325.000 visitors travelled to Macau, with 109.000 arrivals on New Year's Day alone, a very strong performance that underscores Macau's appeal as a premier destination for regional and international travellers, achievement driven by a combination of strategic initiatives, cultural offerings and enhanced connectivity.
The notable increase in holiday tourism was further boosted by the new permit agreements for residents of Henqin and Zhuai, which were introduced on 1st January 2025, permits that included the one trip per week option used by 1.742 mainland residents, and the multiple - entry permit used by 402 travellers.
The demographic outlook reflects the composition of visitors to Macau in 2024, highlighting its diverse appeal with visitors from mainland China, stand out with a relevant share of 70.1% underscoring the critical role of this demographic in driving Macau's tourism recovery.
In terms of regional visitors Hong Kong, Taiwan and elsewhere contributed 29.9% of total arrivals, reflecting Macau appeal and this more than notable data demonstrates Macau's ability to attract a wide range of visitors, supported by personalized marketing campaigns and strong transport links.
