El Salvador, emergent tourist destination in Central America, a country with a notable tourism growth in the last years, known as the land of volcanoes, with several attractions such as crater lakes, cascading waterfalls, tranquil, pristine beaches on the Pacific coast, land of surfing with a rich heritage and several archaeological sites linked to the Maya Civilitazion also highlighted by beautiful fertile landscapes with large coffee fields and suggestive villages offering a multitude of outdoor activities is expanding its tourist offer including Medical Tourism in its portfolio.
These plans were confirmed and highlighted by the Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, with which the incursion into the medical tourism sector, a segment that includes the practice of travelling to another country for medical care which can involve elective surgeries, dental procedures, cancer treatment and much more that offers a combination of modern, quality, more diversified services and a lower cost than that charged in other countries, according to assessments.
The Minister detailed that it is pointed out that it is increasingly common for relatives and visitors who arrive from abroad to mark in their itinerary, between outings to the beach of the historic Centre of San Salvador, the capital and largest centre of the country, a couple of days for dental treatment, a visit to the ophthalmologist, the cosmetic surgeon or any other specialty they require.
In El Salvador, efforts are being made to expand the training of specialists in different branches of medicine, which is working to strengthen tourist care and such services, in addition to the demand of Salvadoran residents abroad, are increasingly requested by visitors from North America, South America and also Europe,who are looking for for first – class medical solutions.
The Minister added that this expansion plan of medical tourism will be connected precisely with Surf City, La Libertad, famed tourist hub nestled along the pristine Pacific coastline, a paradise that offers a multitide of options for surfers, watersports lovers and adventure seekers and planning to have more medical services, both private and public in this Salvadoran first class -tourist destination.
