Curaçao | Solid Growth in the Tourism Sector with Remarkable Achievements

Curaçao, constituent island country within the Kingdom od the Netherlands in the Southern Caribbean Sea, about 65 kilometres north of Venezuela, together with Aruba and Bonaire forming the ABC islands, known for its expansive coral reefs with a rich marine life, idyllic beaches tucked into coves flanking turquoise waters, a paradise for diving lovers and highlighted by a captivanting pastel - coloured colonial architecture is experiencing a solid growth in the tourism sector with remarkable achievements.

Curaçao's tourism industry demonstrated growth and stability in 2024, driven by strategic efforts to maintain visibility in key markets, with plans of promotion and initiatives that have successfully positioned the island country as a very trendy destination for many travellers  in the Caribbean destination.

The Curaçao Tourism Board announced that the destination received 700.249 visitors last year and it saw a solid 20% increase compared to 2023, with 117.844 more visitors staying during the year among the tourists who visited Curaçao were accounted 35.499 hikers and 834.922 cruise passengers, resulting in a total of 1.570.670 tourist arrivals, remarkable achievements consolidating Curaçao with a notable visibility in the international tourist lndscape.

Another confirmation of this solid growth is highlighted on December 2024 which undoubtedly marks a new chapter in this success story, because Curaçao has received 73.699 arrivals of overnight passengers in a single month representing an increase of 16% compared to December 2023.

This brilliant achievement is due in particular to Curaçao main market, the Netherlands followed by the United States of America and Colombia, these three countries of origin have seen an increase in air service from different partner airlines, which have generally expanded their connection or started a new route to Curaçao.

The Caribbean country welcomed in December 2024, 25.255 visitors from the Netherlands, reflecting a 9% increase compared to 23.311 arrivals in the same period of the previous year and the average length of stay for Dutch visitors was 13.9 nights.

Concerning the travellers coming from the U.S.  a total of 19.069 American visitors travelled to the country island in December 2024, compared to 14.714 in December 2024 with an average stay of 6.4 nights, data that confirm that the United States remains a vital market, and more arrivals came from the states of Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, New York and Texas.

Colombian arrivals showed a slight decrease, totaling 5.330 visitors in December 2024, 1% less than the 5.405 tourists recorded in December 2023 with visitors coming from the South American country spent an average of 7.3 nights on the island but consolidating Colombia as the third issuing market in absolute numbers, receiving slighty more visitors compared to Canada with 4.957 and Brazil with 4.245 visitors respectively.

The Curaçao Tourism Board stated that this landmark highlights the growing appeal of the country's vibrant culture, stunning landscapes and warm hospitality, an achievement would not be possible without the support of the entity's partners, stakeholders, the community,

From luxury hotel upgrades to new and expanded flight routes, promotion campaigns and strategic plans of growth linked to its tourist offer next to its constant appeal as destination in the Caribbean region, Curaçao is ready to captivate even more travellers in 2025.
