IHCL – The Indian Hotels Company Limited, hospitality group founded in 1902 and heardquartered in Mumbai, India that manages a portfolio of hotels, resorts, jungle safaris, Spas and in - flight catering services, part of Tata Group has announced the opening of a new SeleQtions hotel in Mandawa, centre located in the district of Rajasthan and part of Shekhawati region, known as the "Open Art Gallery" for its rich architectural history, a famed hub in the past as a relevant trading outpost for ancient caravans routes for goods from China and the Middle East and key stop for wealthy merchants travelling on the iconic Silk Road.
In addition Mandawa is very famous for its beautifully painted havelis, home of the world's largest collection of European - frescoes inspiration which gives this centre a historical appeal to tourists and locals alike.
The accommodation will be hosted in one of these emblematic havelis, a traditional townhouse, mansion or manor house, distinctive Indian constructions usually multistory, organized around two courtyards that in more recent times have been converted in hotels or museums and restored to maintain its historic essence and character.
The haveli initially built in the 1870s, offer a unique and very caprivating insight into Mandawa past, boasting splendid mural paintings from the 1890s featuring scenes from the period, floral and geometric patterns and religious symbols.
The hotel, which currently features 17 guestrooms will be expanded to 35 rooms will provide dining facilities, a bar, a rooftop restaurant, a Spa, a hammam, a gym and a swimming pool.
The Executive Vice President of Real Estate & Development at IHCL, Suma Venkatesh said that the project answers the growing demand for cultural tourism and heritage stays, Mandawa's architectural legacy makes it an interesting stop for travellers on the Dehli – Jaipur – Agra route, a historic route showing the real essence and culture of India.
IHCL is partnering with Vijender Singh Shekawat and Pushpender Singh Shekawat on this project and with this new addition, The Indian Hotels Company Limited will boast 28 hotels in Rajasthan, including six under development.
Vijender Singh Shekhawat and Pushpender Singh Shekawat also expressed their enthusiasm collaborating with IHCL, appreciating the company's leisure sector expertise and commitment to preserving heritage properties.
