The Surf City strategy which elevated the country as a leading destination on the international surfing scene this year consists of a circuit of first - class beaches covering the entire territory, from west to east, for which it is necessary to provide the infrastructure for access and basic services to the main beach tourist site in the country, and the Salvadoran Government worked a lot to develop a stunning network and ideal place to host such important surfing events.
Fringed by first - class waves and a captivating project developed on a global scale, El Salvador encouraged a notable international investment, established long - term alliances with key organizations of world surfing such as the ISA, the International Surfing Association, the world authority for surfing, SUP racing, SUP surfing. Thanks to its excellent organization, safety and world - class waves, the improvements in infrastructure and services El Salvador has earned the trust of ISA and also of the WSL, the World Surf League and in January 2025 the International Surfing Association ratified a historic partnership with El Salvador, securing six international tournaments over the next three years.
ISA President Fernado Aguerre said that this historic partnership is something to be very proud of, El Salvador's commitment to continue hosting the ISA World Championships for years to come means that national federation can develop strategies well in advance on how to best develop world and Olympic champions, with El Salvador's incredible surfing at the heart of those plans.
With the Surf City initiative, El Salvador continues to consolidate itself as an important destination for surfing also enhancing its image and reputation as an excellent choice for tourists, attracting more and more visitors and generating investments that boost its economy and reinforce its position as a world reference.
The tournament schedule for 2025 in El Salvador includes :
• WSL Championship Tour - From 2nd to 12th April at Punta Roca.
• ISA World Longboard Championship - From 25th April to 1st May at El Sunzal.
• ISA World Surfing Games - From 5th to 14th September at El Sunzal and La Bocana.
• WSL Final Longboard - From 5th to 9th November at El Sunzal.
• ALAS Global Tour Final - From 17th to 22nd November at Playas de Oriente.
