Meliá Hotels International, renowned Spanish hotel chain headquartered in Palma de Mallorca, group founded in 1956, a company engaged in real estate conservation development, maintenance, and operation, managing hotels globally, offering brand franchising and providing extensive booking and training channels with a focus on details, innovation and excellence in service is managing a solid investment of more than $60.0 million with relevant plans of expansion in Mexico.
After Spain, Mexico is the second country with the most investment by the Spanish hospitality company, the property footprint in the Latin American country represents more than $1.200 million of investment of which the state of Quintana Roo concentrated 70% equivalent to 3000 rooms and 2.700 employees.
An important operation will be focused with a notable investment of almost $50.0 million allocated to the remodeling of the Paradisus by Meliá hotel in Cancun, famed Mexican city on the Yucatán Peninsula bordering the Caribbean Sea, top destination known for its large resort and hotel offer, splendid beaches and a very vibrant nighlife.
The hotel chain always has ambitious expansion plan in the country, with the aim of doubling its presence in the coming years with projections of reaching a total of 14 establihments in Mexico in the next three years, which include new hotels in strategic key destinations such as Guadalajara, Mexico City, San Miguel de Allende and Sayulita.
Another move was the recent incorporation of the Meliá Casa Maya hotel also located in Cancun, with an investment of $26.0 million in remodeling in which 1.200 workers participated, it was reported that 98% of the workforce, materials, resources, are from the Quintana Roo area and it shows that the formation of the asset greatly helps economic and social prosperity in the places where are established.
Finally Meliá Hotels International is always very centred also in the convention and meeting sector, a segment that has gained relevance in destination like Cancun, which in addition to the positive impact on economic development, undoubtedly supports the smooth out the demand in the destinations and Mexico established itself as an ideal MICE destination very suitable to plan and host congresses, conventions, conferences and events, both for international and local multinational companies.
