Tulum, famed resort town on the Caribbean coastline of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula, well known for its vibrant culture, cenotes, beautiful white sand beaches and turquoise blue waters, the site of a famous pre - Columbian Mayan walled city which served as a major port of Coba, in the state of Quintana Roo, one of the earliest Mexican resorts, offering a place of worship and solitude for the Mayan kings in early times and today a renowned holiday destination will have a significant security upgrade thanks to the upcoming deployment of a specific Beach Polic Force for patrolling the beaches of the municipality's Hotel Zone.
The announcement came during the tenth ordinary session of the Tulum City Council where the Mayor of Tulum, Diego Castañón Trejo confirmed that a specialized unit will be installed that under the name of "Policía Ejecutiva", Executive Police that will be exclusively responsible for patrolling the beaches situated in the hotel zone.
The "Policía Ejecutiva" was created by an agreement with the private sector and where the salary is paid in the City Council which is responsible for paying the police with all the benefits that the government grants.
The Mayor of Tulum has reported that the first group of agents, made up of 22 units, successfully complete the required police assessments in Chetumal and these agents are now prepared to begin patrolling the beaches of one of Mexico's most popular tourist destinations.
