The development of the new pier is part of the comprehensive interventions carried out by CEIZTUR of MITUR, the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism with an investment of RD$ 30.773.790 with the aim to strengthen tourism of La Romana diversifying its offer in an area that for its natural beauty promises to have a notable impact attracting more tourists offering them several options to enjoy a wide fan of outoor activities.
The construction of the pier seeks to promote tourism, fishing and various water sports will be a structure located on the shore of Playa Caleta, consisting of a three - metre - wide walkway, with a length of 30.15 linear metres over the sea.
The pier will provide on its southern end two walkwys on both sides with a total length of 27.0 linear metres, and also five berths of 5.40 metres in length will be developed.
According to the design, the project includes the installation of lighting and safety railing along the entire length of the pier itself and the construction of a breakwater to dissipate wave energy to reduce the erosion of the area, protecting the pier, the beach and its surroundings and the finish of the structure will be in synthetic wood.
The Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republica, David Collado, assures that the work will have an extraordinary economic impact on development tourism and fishing in this municipal district of La Romana and surrounding areas.
In the current administration, the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic has delivered three works in La Romana, for a total amount of RD$126.169.398, and adding this new project the investment amounts to RD$156.943.189.
