Raffles Hotels & Resorts, a famed Singaporean chain of luxury hotels which traces its roots to 1887 with the opening of the original and iconic Raffles Hotel in Singapore, an upscale brand owned by Accor group, French multinational hospitality company headquartered in Issy - les - Moulineaux planned its Italian debut on the idyllic Lake Como, emblematic destination in the Lombardy region in Northern Italy.
The Raffles Lake is slated to open in 2027 in Moltrasio, a holiday destination since the 18th century when numerous writers, poets and aristocratics were bewitched by the beauty and appeal of this municipality on the Lario which rises vertically from the western shore of Lake Como to an altitude of 1.250 metres in its highest point.
Moltrasio is a very captivating centre situated 6.0 kilometres from the capital of Province Como, known for its serene atmosphere and beautifully highlighted by its ochre - coloured, sage - shuttered houses, narrow street and a tranquil lakeside setting and boasting a rich cultural nd historical heritage highlighted by Romanesque and Baroque artistic treasures among them the stunning Chiesa di Sant'Agata church next to various stylish aristocratic villas.
The project involves a renovation and reflagging of the Grand Hotel Imperiale, a 1920s ornate hotel hosted in a Liberty - era building and villa situated along Via Regina, just 5 minute drive from the charming Cernobbio, 8 kilometres from Como San Giovanni Railway Station and 9 kilometres from the suggetive Monte Bisbino, a mountain of the Lugano Prealps located west of Lake Como.
The hotel will feature 84 guestrooms, including 18 suites and two villas offering spectacular views on the idyllic Lario, providing several food and beverage venues including a Raffles Long Bar and Writers Bar as well as amenities like a spa and fitness centre, a beach club, an indoor and outdoor pool.
This future opening on Lake Como will be the Raffles brand's fifth property in Europe, joining the Raffles London at The Owo, Le Royale Monceau – Raffles Paris, Raffles Europejski Warsaw and Raffles Istanbul.
