Brazil | Tourism Sector Attracts Relevant Foreign Direct Investment According to Information by the Central Bank of Brazil

The Brazilian tourism sector attracted $81 million in foreign direct investment between January and March 2025 with an increase of 88% compared to the same period last year, when the country received $43 million and in the last 12 months, they totaled $398 million.

The country is an attractive destination for international investors due to several factors such as a domestic market of over 210 million inhabitants, availability of easily exploitable raw materials, a diversified economy that is less vulnerable to international crises, and a strategic geographic position that allows easy access to other South American countries.

The data, from a survey carried out by the Ministry of Tourism, based on information form Bacen, the Central Bank of Brazil indicate that the main investments were concentrated in the transport segment, which moved $63 million and culture and leisure, with $13 million in resources.

This performance reinforces Brazil's attractiveness as a destination for international investments, especially in segments directly linked to the reception and entertainment of tourists.

To strengthen the raising of external funds for national tourism, the Ministry of Tourism launched this year the guide "Tourism Doing Business : Investing in Brazil".

The Publication seeks to stimulate foreign participation in the sector and present to the world the benefits, conditions and business possibilities offered through tourism projects. The document was prepared by CAF, the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean and UN Tourism, the United Nations World Tourism Organization in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism.

The Minister of Tourism Celso Sabino, evaluated the country's performance, stating that this expressive growth shows that the world is keeping an eye on the potential of Brazilian tourism, to point out that the country is reaping the fruits of an integrated work of international promotion, legal certainly and improvement of infrastructure.

In the last 12 months, foreign direct investments in tourism – related activities reached $398 million, a milestone that, according to the Minister reflects the resumption of international confidence in the Brazilian business environment, driven by policies to encourage the sector, exchange rate stability and greater visibility of the country at international fairs and events.
