Hyatt Hotels Corporation, American multinational hospitality company headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, announced the opening of the Mumiam Shaoxing Hotel in Shaoxing, famous prefecture - level city on the southern shore of Hangzhou Bay straddling the Grand Canal and crossed by many waterways in northeastern Zhejiang province, China, a centre well known for its rich cultural and historical heritage, classical gardens and for its locally produced rice wine.
The new property developed in partnership with Shenzhen Yuen Kai Management Co., Ltd, operator of hotel development and management company catering throughout China, based in Shenzen.
The hotel enters in the Unbound Collection by Hyatt, a curated group of independent, story - worthy hotels, each with its own unique character and experience. These establishments, which range from historic landmarks to modern marvels, are designed to offer guests distinctive and memorable stays, often situated in locations with fascinating pasts and hosted in buildings with a unique architectural design.
This boutique hotel reimagined from its industrial history is part of the Shaoxing Place commercial complex in Yuecheng District situated within the renovated former Shaoxing 871 Chip Factory at the foot of Fushan Mountain near Fushan Park, Grand Theatre and Xu Wei Art Museum.
The property is a 25 - minute drive from Shaxing North Station and offers an easy access to other relevant attractions, including Lu Xun's Native Place, the Sanwey Study and Cangqiao Street.
The hotel integrates elements of the site's industrial past like the original skeletal truss structure of the factory with contemporary design, with a focus on geometric and natural details and it also offers curated art tours and a photo gallery that highlights the building's transformation.
Mumiam Shaoxing Hotel features 90 comfortable guest rooms located on the second and third floors, with sizes ranging from 484 to 2.206 square feet, equipped with amenities such as Dyson hairdryers, Atelier Cologne bath products and Tivoli Audio systems.
Dining options at the hotel include the Xiaonanyang Restaurant, which offers all-day dining with a special focus on Shaoxing flavours, the Xingshan Lobby Bar, offering for afternoon teas and cocktails and additional facilities include a fitness centre, yoga studio, and children's club.
The hotel's "Story Bloomers" program offers guests a range of cultural experiences, including traditional Shexi opera performances, heritage workshops, and calligraphy sessions.
In addition, the programme offers evening activities such as the "Starlight Overture" ceremony, featuring local music and Shaoxing wine tasting.
