Italy's tourism sector is experiencing a strong recovery with a significant in both domestic and international visitor numbers and spending, and the country will register an year - on year growth this summer.

A survey carried out in mid - May by Demoskópica Institute based in Rome, estimated that the arrival of visitors to Italy in the months between June and September will be very high, with 267.4 million presences in tourist places, which will represent an increase of 2.1% compared to the same stage recorded in 2024.
These estimates pointed to a recovery of the domestic market during the summer, with 30.1 million arrivals and 129.5 million presences, which means an upward trend of 5.5% and 4.9% respectively.
On the other hand according to Demoskópika, around 35.7 million international visitors will opt for an Italian destination, with an increase of 1.7% in the total expected arrivals, for 138 million overnight stays and direct tourist spending of €39 billion, with a growth of 0.9% compared to 2024.
Also ENIT, the Italian National Tourist Board provided data, expecting a record 27 million tourists between June and September of this year, with 18.6 million being international visitors arriving by air, this signifies a strong recovery and increasing demand for Italian holidays.
Italy's Minister of Tourism, Daniela Santanché, told the media upon learning orf these forecasts that with a significant increase in tourist presence, Italy continues to prove to be a coveted destination for travellers from all over the world.
