Paraguay | Reinforcing Tourism Security in the Country with a New Initiative

Paraguay, is actively working to enhance its tourism sector with various initiatives, reforms, improvement of its infrastructure, diversification of its destinations, and is also implementing several plans and strategies to enhance tourism security, focusing on crime prevention and safety awareness, these include campaigns to educate tourists and locals on potential risks, and promoting safe practices when using ATMs and navigating public transport and recently launched a new initiative to reinforce tourism security in the country.

The South American country through SENATUR, the Department of Tourism Facilitation of the National Secretariat of Tourism carried out an awareness and training day at aspiring non - commissioned officers of the National Police, at the branch of the Police College “Sgto. Ayudte. José Merlo Saravia” situated in Capiatá, city in the Central Department located 23 kilometres from Asunción, between the Departmental Route D027 and Route PY02.

This activity is part of a series of initiatives to strengthen collaboration between public security and the tourism sector to reinforce security in the country, protecting visitors during their stays.

In total, 390 applicants participated in this training, designed to provide them with specific tools and knowledge on the importance of ensuring a safe environment for tourists, seeking to make future agents understand the relevance of their role in promoting reliable and quality tourism.

The initiative responds to prepare a new workforce in the security sector and the need to foster a closer link between the authorities in charge of security and the tourism sector, so that together they can face challenges related to the protection and attention of national and international visitors.

The Department of Tourism Facilitation of the National Secretariat of Tourism highlights that safe tourism not only benefits visitors, but also promotes the economic and social development of the host communities, generating confidence and a positive image of the country at the international level.

In addition, these trainings are part of an institutional commitment to prepare the South American country as a hospitable destination, which offers safe and satisfactory tourist experiences, contributing to the consolidation of the tourism sector.
