Seville, Spain | Experiencing an Unprecedent Boom in Hotel Investment with more than 50 New Projects Underway

Seville, the capital and largest city of the autonomous community of Andalusia, situated in the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula on the banks of the Gualquivir River, well known for its rich history, stupendous Mudejar architecture visible in many of its quaint neighbourhood, a city among the most relevant in Spain for its rich cultural and historical heritage, art scene and well known to be one of the cradles of Flamenco, recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity is experiencing an unprecedent boom in hotel investment with more than 50 new projects underway.

The city is positioned as a pole of attraction for hotel development in Spain and according to a report by EY Parthenon, the strategic consulting arm of Ernst & Young providing services to CEOs, boards, private equity firms and governments based in Boston, U.S., Seville and its province will concentrate 20% of the 260 hotel establishments planned in Andalusia until 2028 with 53 new projects.

Of these developments 19 corresponds to new works and 34 involve the conversion of existing buildings. Nine will be five - stat hotels, of which four will be classified as Grand Luxury and this influx of high - end properties is expected to further solidify Seville's position as a luxury urban destination.

Nine four - star hotels and a wide range of three, two - star, aparthotels and tourist apartments will also be part of this massive project linked to the Sevillian hospitality landscape.

Among the brand involved are prestigious names such as IHG Hotels & Resorts, Four Seasons, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, The Central House, Limehome, Od Hotels, Sercotel and Smartrental.

Some the most outstanding developments are the Four Seasons luxury hotel with an investment of €80 million and the Six Senses, brand of IHG Hotels & Resorts on the La Caprichosa estate in Gerena. 

At the same time, several hotels will be located in historic buildings, such as former cinemas, old convents and wineries, providing Seville with a diverse hotel offer of high heritage value.

This unprecedent boom in hotel investment boom confirms the Andalusian city's tourist attraction and its positioning as a first - class urban and cultural destination in the European landscape.
