Accor S.A. | Acquisition of the Iconic ME Madrid Reina Victoria Hotel

Accor S.A., a French multinational hospital company based in Issy - les - Moulineaux, managed the acquisition of the iconic ME Madrid Reina Victoria hotel, a stylish accommodation located a short stroll from the central Puerta del Sol square in the beating heart of Madrid, which ceased operations on 15th August 2025.

The property previously operated by Meliá Hotels International, Spanish hotel chain based in Palma de Mallorca will be transformed under the standards of The Hoxton, one of the 11 lifestyle hotel brands owned by Accor S.A., as confirmed by HOSTELTUR, tourism news.

The Hoxton will debut in Madrid and will become the second establishment of this brand in Spain, after the Barcelona hotel that opened its doors in 2022 in El Poblenou, vibrant  coastal neighbourhood of the Catalan capital located in the Sant Martí district, east of the city centre and bordering the Mediterranean Sea.

The Hoxton brand features design - led hotels with homey, vibrant lobbies, unique all - day dining, and local partnerships, designed to reflect the distinct character of their neighbourhoods. The hotels prioritize understated comfort, offer programming related to the art and design and each location serves as a cultural hub and community space, with open doors that welcome both guests and locals to experience its unique offering.

After a refurbishment that will take several months, the emblematic 19th - century building hosting the ME Madrid Reina Victoria located in the historic Plaza de Santa Ana square in the beating heart of the Spanish capital, which embraced the upscale brand ME by Meliá for 19 years, will witness the debut of the new brand The Hoxton which Accor S.A. intends to position itself in the lifestyle segment of Madrid.

This property is part of the portfolio of 17 hotels that ADIA, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority bought from Equity Immuebles, owned by the founding families of Tryp Hoteles. Five of these properties operated under the Meliá brand, three under the Sol brand, eight under Tryp and the iconic ME Madrid Reina Victoria.

Following this operation Meliá Hotels International agreed to maintain the long - term management of the most strategic hotels for the group and that the others would remain under its management until a different formula is decided, leaving open the possibility of looking for other alternatives depending on the route that the new ownership considers.
