NH Hotel Group, a Spanish hotel chain headquartered in Madrid, that operates under the umbrella of Minor Hotels, hospitality group based in Bangkok, Thailand, has opened a new NH Collection in Palermo, Sicily's cultural, economic and tourism capital situated in the northwest of the Italian island, by the Gulf of Palermo in the Tyrrhenian Sea, a centre that is noted for its relevant history, culture, art, architecture and gastronomy and music playing an important role throughout of its existence ; it is over 2.700 years old.
The new entry in the portfolio of NH Hotel Group and Minor Hotels is NH Collection Palermo Palazzo Sitano, situated at Via Vittorio Emanuele, 114 in beating heart of the Sicilian city, near the Giardini Garibaldi garden and the lively via Porto Salvo street, a short distance from Piazza Marina, Castello a Mare, Porto della Cala and the iconic La Vucciria Market, a historic area known for its blend of Arab and Norman influences highlighted by a stunning Baroque architecture.
The hotel is also close to the central train station and several relevant theatres, including the Biondo, Massimo, and Politeama.
This opening represents the brand's second establishment in Sicily and follows the recent inauguration of NH Collection Alagna Mirtillo Rosso in the Pennine Alps, in the Piedmont region, set for 2025 and the sixth property of Minor Hotels on the Italian island.
The new property enters in the NH Collection, a premium hotel brand known for its hotels boasting a unique location in major cities and resorts, with a focus on exceptional comfort, service and a large variety of facilities, offering a sophisticated and memorable experience.
This, elegant, contemporary boutique hotel is housed in an aristocratic building originally constructed between 1712 and 1860, it retains many original features including Baroque design elements and decorations, painted ceilings, intricate frescoes and cast - iron balconies.
The hotel features 86 comfortable rooms subdivided into various categories, including Superior, Premium XL, Junior Suite, and Suite. Many rooms offers original balconies with views of the old town and some Junior Suites have restored frescoed ceilings.
Dining options at the NH Collection Palermo Palazzo Sitano include a restaurant located within a modern glass structure, inspired by the nearby San Francesco Convent that serves dishes that highlight traditional Sicilian flavours using local ingredients. The bar area is accessible from the lobby and open onto the street Via Bottai, catering to both hotel and local residents.
Additional amenities include a ground - floor sauna, and steam bath, as well as a fitness club equipped with treadmills and stationary bikes.
The hotel is also very suitable for business and private events, providing a modern event room accommodating up to 56 people, an interior patio and a private area for networking and meetings.
