Mandarin Oriental Group | Unveiled Plans to Open a New Hotel in Seoul, South Korea

Mandarin Oriental Group International Limited, a multinational hospitality company founded in 1963 and based in Hong Kong focusing on luxury hotels, residences and vacation properties unveiled plans to open a new hotel in Seoul, capital and largest city of South Korea, a huge metropolis where modern skyscrapers, high - tech subways and pop culture meet Buddhist temples, palaces and street markets, a centre with a rich a rich cultural and historical heritage, home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites and offering timeless architecture that enhances the city’ s charm. 

The hotel scheduled to open in 2030 is a development that marks the company’s entry into the South Korean market and is a project that is being developed in collaboration with Hanwha Group, a major South Korean multinational conglomerate headquartered in Seoul founded in 1952 with diversified interests in finance, real estate, retail, solar energy, aerospace, defense, and petrochemicals.

The future hotel will be located in the Central Business District of Seoul, north of the Han River, the city’s traditional and longest - standing business hub that features major financial, corporate, and media headquarters, along with notable shopping areas like Myeong - dong, government offices, historical sites, and a central transportation nexus at Seoul Station.

The property will feature 128 comfortable rooms and suites and the interior design will be led by designer André Fu, focusing on a blend of elegance and elements reflective of the local destination. 

The establishment will include multiple dining options such as a restaurant on the 21st floor which will offer panoramic city views, while the 20th floor will feature two culinary concepts : one specializing in international cuisine and the other in Chinese dishes. Additionally, a Korean Chef’s counter will provide a unique dining experience and the ground floor will house a bar, lounge, and the Mandarin Cake Shop.

Amenities will include a spa covering four floors, offering a swimming pool, fitness centre and outdoor terrace, a golf academy, multiball court, games room, and kid’s club.

The hotel will also include event and meeting facilities such as function rooms, a grand ballroom, and a private outdoor terrace.
