Bolivia, a landlocked country in central South America, highlighted by a varied terrain spanning Andes Mountains, the Atacama Desert and Amazon Basin rainforest, through its President Luis Arce has enacted a law validating the agreement between Bolivia and Russia on the Mutual Recognition of Studies, Qualifications, and Academic Degrees, strengthening educational, scientific, and technological ties between the two countries.
According to the Bolivian President this move enhances academic and scientific cooperation, enabling education achievements to be recognized in both nations, as reported by Bolivia TV (BTV), the first television station of the country and serving the only means of communication from the government.
The agreement will ensure that university degrees, academic titles, and qualifications obtained at higher education institutions in Bolivia and in the Russian Federation are fully valid in both countries.
The initiative is also intended to promote the mobility of students, lecturers, and researchers, as well as the joint development of research projects and technological advancements, driving forward bilateral scientific collaboration.
In 2024 in a ceremony which took place at St. Petersburg University, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and Bolivia Government already signed an intergovernmental agreement on mutual recognition of education, qualifications and academic degrees.
A document in that occasion was signed by the Deputy Minister of Science and Education, Konstantin Mogilevsky and by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Celinda Sosa Lunda and this new move one year later enhances furthermore the ties between the two countries in the education sector.
