The Dominican Republic is actively working to reinforce and highlight its image and appeal in the tourism landscape and has launched the new promotional platform “Discover Paradise” to enhance the country’s position as a preferred destination for the Latin American markets.
The “Discover Paradise” platform for the Caribbean country highlights features like all inclusive resorts that offer a full range of amenities, with many featuring swim - up suites, private terraces, family - friendly water parks, or quiet, romantic settings, water sports, and excursions to cultural sites such as the UNESCO - listed Colonial Zone in Santo Domingo, inviting travellers to admire historic churches, plazas and the Alcázar de Colón.
Other popular activities include exploring natural attractions like the 27 Waterfalls of Damajagua, mangrove areas, visit sandbar islands like Cayo Arena, enjoying golf, indulging in local cuisine and shopping.
The platform emphasizes both relaxation through resorts and on world - renowned white sand beaches in Punta Cana or Playa Dorada and adventure through activities like snorkeling, diving, kitesurfing, sailing, and deep - sea fishing in destinations like Cabarete, zip - lining and hiking in national parks.
The initiative targets major tour operators and travel agencies from Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and Venezuela.
The Minister of Tourism David Collado speaking in Colombia in the presentation of “Discover Paradise”, emphasized that the goal is not just to market a destination, but to showcase the Dominican Republic’s culture, gastronomy, traditions, and overall experience, and he also highlighted the strengths and new offerings of key destinations such as La Romana, Miches, Puerto Plata, Punta Cana, Samaná, Santiago de los Caballeros, and Santo Domingo.
Media outlets and digital platforms specializing in tourism also participated in the event, which featured immersive activities designed to highlight Dominican cultural richness.
Attendees took part in artistic sessions inspired by the Colonial City, rum tastings, workshops on Taino heritage through casaba - making, and silent disco dance classes focused on merengue and bachata.
