Durban, South Africa | The Municipality Confirms all 23 Bathing Beaches Open for Festive Season

Durban, a vibrant coastal city in Eastern South Africa’s KwaZulu - Natal province, known for its African, Indian and colonial influences, beautiful beaches, a warm climate, highlighted by a stunning promenade runs from uShaka Marine World, a huge theme park with an aquarium, the Botanical Gardens showcases unique African fish species, the futuristic Moses Mabhida Stadium, and a famous destination for surfing and water sports through the eThekwini municipality has confirmed that all 23 bathing beaches are open for festive season.

The municipality informed that all beaches are open and safe for swimming and this announcement comes after the completion of the latest quality tests, with continuous monitoring in place by the city’s scientific team.

This announcement assures residents and visitors that the beaches are ready for use, they can enjoy the sun, sand and surf, a welcome sign after a period of uncertainly for some coastal areas.

With about 1.3 million visitors expected over the festive period, the municipality stated that it is prepared to deliver a safe and enjoyable season for holidaymakers.

All swimming pools along the beach promenade, including the Children Amusement Centre pool, South Beach paddling pool and Laguna pool, are maintained and filled with fresh water, while the Illovu and Asherville municipal pools are set to reopen after repair.

In addition, the city has reminded beachgoers to avoid alcohol when swimming, obey instructions from law enforcement and lifeguards, and not jump from piers.
