Tunisia has welcomed more than 10.03 million tourists between January 1 and November 20, 2025, a 10.3% increase from the previous year, according to figures from the Ministry of Tourism and reported by local media.
This brilliant performance put the country within reach of its 11 - million target for 2025 and strengthens its bid to rank among Africa’s top three destinations alongside Morocco and Egypt.
This growth is attributed to a strong recovery in the tourism sector, boosted by increased arrivals from key markets like the UK and France, and a government strategy to diversify and promote year - round tourism beyond the traditional “sun, sea, and sand” model, with new products, proposals and diverse destinations.
In terms of arrivals, notable growth came from the UK rose 40.1% to 415.000 travellers; France delivered 1.07 million (+6.4%), Italy (+8.6%) and Canada (+11%) also increased, while China, a priority market, climbed 18.6% to 24.268 visitors.
Tourism revenue for the first nine months of the year reached nearly TND7 billion, about $2.38 billion, an 8.3% increase.
With 10.2 million visitors in 2024 and tourism contributing 4.4% of GDP in 2023, according to data released by World Bank, close to the pre - pandemic 4.6%, the momentum underscores the sector’s strategic role in Tunisia’s economy.
The Tunisian government is actively working to diversify tourism offerings and improve air connectivity to achieve it goal of 11 million visitors for the full year, continuing to promote year - round coastal, health, cultural and environmental tourism, with its strategy includes attracting high - end travel and improving flight deals to reduce reliance on package tours.
