Vietnam is preparing for a great growth in its airport infrastructure, according to the revised plan drawn up by the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority, the country plans to operate 33 airports with a capacity of 297 million passengers by 2030 as reported by Vietnam New Agency (VNA).
The network expansion is part of a larger master plan aiming to boost regional connectivity, support tourism and logistics, and meet growing passenger demand.
The new plan includes the integration of Mang Den airport in Quang Nai Province projected to be a major tourist hub while Van Phong Airport located in Khanh Hoa Province will be a service and logistic hub.
The project is estimated to require nearly VND 500 trillion in investment by 2030, sourced from the state budget, private sources and other channels.
The network expansion also includes integrating advanced technology for improved efficiency and passenger experience. The operations involves infrastructure modernizayion with technologies like biometrics, automated baggage handling, smart security and 5G connectivity.
These projects are essential to boost economic growth, attract private investment and improve connectivity between the country’s region and the expansion plan extends beyond 2030, with a vision have 36 airports by 2050.
