Al Ain, UAE | Selected as the Capital of Arab Tourism for 2026

Al Ain, the fourth most populous city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), located in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, bordering Oman has been selected as the Capital of Arab tourism in 2026.

The city was chosen as the capital of Arab tourism on the recommendation of the Executive Office of the Aran Ministerial Council for Tourism during the 28th session of the council in Baghdad, Iraq. 

Al Ain located 160 km from the UAE capital Abu Dhabi, is known as the “Garden City” of the UAE, due to its gardened areas highlighted by exotic plants and flowers, abundant greenery, also recognized for its history and heritage with UNESCO sites like Al Ain Oasis, and ancient falaj systems, majestic Jebel Hafeet mountain, historic forts such as the 19th- century Al Jahili Fort, the Hili and Bidaa Saud archaeological parks, and traditional markets like Camel Souk.

The city which blends natural beauty with tradition and modern experience. also boasts amusement parks, family attractions like the largest Zoo in the UAE and Wadi Adventure, sustainable infrastructure, and with events planned to showcase its cultural depth.

Al Ain reflects the growing appeal of the Emirates as a tourist destination in the region, and according to Emirates News Agency (WAM), the city’s news status will contribute to the implementation of the national tourism strategy, which aims to attract 40 million guests to hotel annually and increase tourism’s contribution to GDP to US$122.5 million by 2031.
