The Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, David Collado led the start of work on the construction of a photo stop on the beach of Punta Rucia, a tranquil, undeveloped fishing village on the Domincan Republic’s north coast in the district of Estero Hondo, municipality of La Isabela within the province of Puerto Plata.
Punta Rucia is famous for its calm, turquoise waters and as the primary, closest departure point for snorkeling trips to the stunning white - sand Cayo Arena (Paradise Island) highlighted by attractions include the pristine Playa Punta Rucia beach and the lively, boat - lined Playa La Ensenada, as well as a strategic point for exploring the scenic, tangled mangrove forests within the nearby Monte Cristi National Park.
The project launched with the aim to drive tourism and enhance the visibility of Punta Rucia will be supervised by the Executive Committee for Infrastructure in Tourism Zones (CEIZTUR) with an investment of RD$10.822.480.
As explained, the intervention will cover 352 square metres, with a 1.391 - square - metres area of influence. The development will include paving the road, the construction of sidewalks, curbs, gardens, the installation of road signage, lighting, landscaping, as well as the placement of a reinforced - concrete city brand sign and installing ground cover to protect the coastal edge, all interventions part of the comprehensive environmental improvements
The initiative also seeks to strengthen local identity, improve security, and beautify the area, thereby enhancing the local tourist appeal.
During the event introducing the development, the Minister of Tourism stated that these types of projects, although smaller in scale, generate a significant impact on the tourism development of the communities.
The Minister added that the photo stop marks the beginning of new interventions by the Ministry of Tourism throughout the Punta Rucia and La Ensenada area.
The official highlighted that the new space will serve as a point of reference for national and international visitors who come to Punta Rucia, a destination known for its crystal - clear waters, tranquillity, and stunning natural attractions.
