Rosewood Hotels and Resorts | Unveiled Plans for the Development of a Hotel in Tokyo, Japan

Rosewood Hotels and Resorts, an international luxury hotel and resort company headquartered in Hong Kong, China has unveiled plans to open a hotel in Tokyo, Japan’s capital and largest city, a vibrant metropolis seamlessly blending hyper - modern technology with centuries - old traditions, featuring a sprawling urban landscape defined by neon - lit skyscrapers, Michelin - starred dining, and thousands of tranquil shrines,  serving as both an economic powerhouse and a premier global cultural hub.                                                                   

The project for the future opening of Rosewood Tokyo is a joint initiative with Mori Building Co., Ltd., a premier Japanese urban developer based in Tokyo, renowned for pioneering “Vertical Garden Cities” and Sumitomo Realty & Development Co.,Ltd., a Japanese real estate development company headquatered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, a member of the Smitomo Group, one of the three largest real estate developers in the country, marking the brand’s first urban hotel in Japan, following the planned debut of Rosewood Miyakojima in 2025.  

The hotel will be located within a mixed - use development integrating hospitality, residences, retail, and office space in the Roppongi 5 - Chrome development in Roppongi, a vibrant, upscale district in  central Tokyo famous for its dynamic nightlife, massive modern complexes like Roppoingi Hills and Tokyo Midtwon, as well as world – class contemporary art.

Accessible via the Hibiya and Oedo subway lines, Roppongi serves as a central hub for international dining, shopping, and entertainment.vRosewood Tokyo will be directed connected to Roppongi Subway Station and is positioned as a central component of the development.

The property is planned to feature approximately 200 rooms and suites, including three - bedroom accommodations. The property will offer a range of dining and bar concepts inspired by Tokyo’s culinary culture.

Facilities at the hotel will include the Rosewood Manor Club and the Asaya wellbeing concept, which will provide an indoor pool, fitness and yoga facilities. The property will also include event spaces, such as a grand ballroom designed for international gatherings and cultural exchange.

Rosewood Tokyo is part of a broader expansion for the brand, with additional upcoming openings in Seoul, South Korea, Shenzhen, China, California’s Napa Valley, U.S., Rome, Italy, and the Maldives.
