Gujarat, India | To Build 20 Roads Using Cutting - Edge Green Technology with an Investment of About $120 Million

The State of Gujarat located along the western coast of India, boasting a coastline of about 2.340 kilometres, the longest in the country, most of which lies on the Kathiawar peninsula will build 20 roads using cutting - edge green technology.

This project with an investment of about $120 million in this year’s budget, focuses on sustainable transport and the reuse of old materials to reduce costs with the aim to promote sustainability and eco - friendly infrastructure using modern technology according to Asian News International (ANI), a premier multimedia news agency based in New Delhi.

The state government’s commitment to eco - friendly transport corridors spans across 16 districts in Gujarat such as Anand, Bhawangar, Chinota Udepur, Gir Somnath, Jamnagar, Kutch, Mansisagar, Mehsana, Morbi, Narmad, Patan, Surat, Surendrangr, and  Vadodara, with notable ongoing developments including the SG Highway Transformation, the state - wide Green Road Revolution and reimagining the urban corridor connecting Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.

The projects include the reuse of old materials from existing roads during the reconstruction process. The roads are excavated, treated with time and stabilized by spraying and compaction, incorporating industrial byproducts, lowering the carbon footprint associated with road manufacturing.

The green technology promotes the reuse of materials such as Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) to reduce reliance on fresh raw materials, soil, and metal which reduces construction costs and strengthens the roads’ foundation, improving the lonroads g - term durability and reducing the need for frequent repairs.

Work is being spread across key districts, further detailed in state update like the Gujarat Chief Minister’s Rural Roads portal or highlighted via national portals like the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
