The notorious group, Hilton Hotels & Resorts American multinational hospitality global brand of full-service hotels and resorts has signed an agreement with Bohemian Hotels ehf, a well-known joint venture owned by Luxor ehf and Concordia ehf for the opening of the Hotel Akureyri Skald Hotel Curio Collection by Hilton in a expansion campaign in Northern Iceland but also with a new property in the capital of the country capital Reykjavik.
Vice President Development UK, Ireland & Nordics Hilton expressed his satisfaction by commenting that Iceland is a major destination and the expansion of the portfolio in the Nordic country with a new owned hotel in Reykjavik is a big step for the brand also highlighting the strategies made for the first international brand in Akureyri.
Hilton's lifestyle brands have always generated significant growth opportunities in Europe and the collaboration with the Bohemian Hotel ehf owners will be a big step towards consolidation and a strong presence in Iceland.
The Hotel Akureyri Skald is located in a geographical area that has long since become a leading destination, close to the Diamond Circle, a strategic point for observing the spectacular Northern Lights and a great attraction for the transit of whales.
The hotel will open its doors in summer 2025 located on Hafnarstraeti, an important artery in the heart of the town, it will provide 70 rooms in the name of maximum comfort and modern and meticulously studied design.
Guests will have access to a 24-hour restaurant, a lobby bar, a large lounge, an innovative social club and a large outdoor courtyard.
The second hotel in the capital Reykjavik situated in Brietartún a short distance from the lively and bustling area of Hlemmur and the historic Freemason's Hall, the hotel will provide 170 fully serviced rooms with an emphasis on sustainability with natural materials and a very accurate design.
The Hotel will offer premium lifestyle accommodation under one of the Hilton brands and it is scheduled to open in spring 2026.
