Ibis Styles, brand of the well-known French group Accor, has just opened a new unit in the capital of Portugal, Lisbon, the hotel inspired by the concept of "flight", in harmony with the philosophy of the brand which is characterized by the creativity of design and the search for thematic motifs, offering differentiated experiences through particular storytellings.
The hotel is located on Avenida José Fonseca Carvalho -Prior Velho, just 2.5 km from the terminals of Lisbon International Airport within a 10- minute drive of Campo Grande and Vasco da Gama Shopping Centre.
The project was built on an industrial warehouse and thanks to a careful restoration it has become a five-storey hotel, three of which are used as bedrooms and an exclusive terrace for guests while the basement area has been converted into a parking lot, while the ground floor in turn is the main access area to the common areas.
The building is equipped with solar panels for the production of hot water and air conditioning produced by VRV and has also been renovated to create an internal courtyard that connects the different areas of the hotel.
The work carried out on the north and south façades is completely opposite from a stylistic point of view, creating a contrast that enriches the image from an aesthetic point of view.
The design is inspired by the concept of "flying" with homage to Lisbon, a city that takes off and expands from the mouth of the Tagus River climbing its hills and reaching the whole world through artistic representations that transform the Ibis Styles Lisboa Airport into a sort of authentic art gallery.
Its design and creation have been attended and developed by personalities of great renown such as the interior designer Miguel Diogo responsible for the original idea of the project, Francisca Navio, the landscape architect Paulo Simões and the artist Pedro Versteeg.
The palette of colors and materials for the different environments comes from the aeronautical and space industry, showing ferrous and metallic tones in black and gray colors with finishes in robust natural leather and organic fabrics.
All that is accompanied by decorative installations that evoke the memory of historic aircraft and images that correspond to installations related to the sky with clouds as protagonists interconnected with the first flying devices.
The outdoor spaces are enlivened by typically Mediterranean-inspired architecture, with a mix of inert and vegetal soils covered with floral motifs and shrubs of different types, with artificial and natural light coexisting throughout the hotel, constituting a fundamental part of the narrative.
The Hotel Ibis Styles Lisboa Airport provides 126 rooms, equipped with all services, bright, welcoming with a modern design with an eclectic touch, very versatile and unique that adapt to any type of guest, an ideal structure for comfort and convenience for tourists, families and business travelers, satisfying the most diverse needs.
The rooms are of two different aesthetic types, distinguished by the surface, artistic iconography, furnishings and, like the rest of the building, linked to the theme of "flying" while the corridors show great names in the history of aviation.
Guests have access to a bar, a restaurant, a fitness centre, meeting rooms and parking.
With this new incorporation of Ibis Styles Lisboa Airport, there are 16 hotels in the portfolio in Portugal and Spain with two more in the pipeline.
