Ribera del Guadiana Wine Route – Spain | Certification Renewal

The famous Ribera del Guadiana Wine and Cava Route has renewed its certification for another year, a result that reaffirms one of the most important destinations for all wine lovers and enthusiasts in Spain.

This newly renewed certification represents the route's efforts to improve the visitor experience and promote the region's wine tourism heritage, positioning the route as a reference destination, attracting visitors and contributing to the growth of the sector.

The Ribera del Guadiana Wine and Cava Route was certified in 2023 as a product club belonging to the Spanish Wine Routes by the Association of Wine Cities ACEVIN established in the territory of the Ribera del Guadiana D.O.P. created in 1999.

This route is located in the province of Badajoz in the community of Extremadura and makes the territory and its wine tradition known through multiple wine tourism activities in a geographical area that includes about twenty municipalities integrated into six sub-areas called Matanegra, Ribera Alta, Ribera Baja corresponding to the area of Badajoz while Montánchez and Cañamero correspond to the geographical area of Cáceres.

In 2023, visits to wineries and wine museums associated with the itinerary recorded an increase of 18.20% compared to 2022, remarkable data that show a remarkable growth that has brought an economic impact of € 102 million.

Wine tourism is to be considered an accessible and responsible activity that is consolidated every year as knowing the territory in different perspectives and ways, for this reason La Ruta del Vino y del Cava Ribera del Guadiana and all its associates aim to create a unique and memorable experience.

Spain has 37 wine routes whose main driving force for wine tourism activity are the 740 wineries that the association has.

The wine-growing territories of Extremadura are distinguished by the variety of landscapes and natural beauty of this Iberian land and the excellence of its wines and cava are the result of careful, dedicated and meticulous work that are combined with love for the territory and its products.

Linked to all this, it is also an opportunity to get closer to the delicious regional gastronomy with designation of origin such as the famous Iberian Ham of the Dehesa de Extremadura, the Veal and Lamb of Extremadura and the Torta de la Serena among others
