On the occasion of the event of the first "Day of Italian Sport in the World" held in the fascinating setting of Villa Madama, magnificent Renaissance mansion north of the Vatican and just south of the Foro Olimpico Stadium in Rome, the President of Assoturismo Confesercenti Vittorio Messina defined Sports Tourism as a fundamental resource for the economic growth and sustainable development of the territory.
The event chaired by Assoturismo Confesercenti, the trade union federation representing companies operating in the tourism sector that offers its members protection in the fiscal, administrative, credit, training, labor market, insurance, social security and business start-up fields, was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani and the Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi.
Sports tourism refers to travel which involves either observing or participating in a sporting event, a fast – growing sector of the global travel industry.
The President of Assoturismo Confesercenti added that the combination of sport and tourism offers unique opportunities to attract visitors, promotes seasonal adjustment and enhances local excellence.
This secotr not only encourages the growth of local businesses but also contributes to improving the quality of life through an integrated type of holiday that offers tourists movement, relaxation and discovery of the area.
