Bayamón – Puerto Rico | Science Park by ToroVerde Reopens its Doors

After a seven-year hiatus, the grand reopening of the "Parque del las Ciencias by ToroVerde", the Bayamón Science Park, represents a great event for the municipality and suburb of the capital San Juan, located in the northern coastal valley north of Aguas Buenas.

Jorge Jorge Flores, businessman and CEO of ToroVerde together with the Executive Director of PRTC. Puerto Rico Tourism Company Carlos Mercado Santiago and the Mayor of Bayamón, Ramón Luis Rivera Cruz met to celebrate the ceremonies for the reopening of this complex.

The reconstruction of this park, also known as Parque Cientifico Luis A. Ferré, managed by the company ToroVerde Corp., founded in 2009, owner and administrator of various adventure parks, including the largest adventure park in the world in Orocovis, in the center of the Caribbean island, was the result of an investment of $ 20 million that also created 350 new jobs.

The park now offers 25 avant-garde attractions, significantly improved accessibility and special attention to education, innovation, gastronomy with important culinary offerings and the organization of events.

Among the most notable attractions in the park is the world's largest colour by numbers piece certified by GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS.™

Additionally it features the first immersive exhibition of Guinness Word Records in pictures a six – gallery sensory experience in six domes around the park with themes of Dinosaurs, Mechanical Masterpieces, the Animal Kingdom, the 21st Century, Puerto Rican Local Heroes and Space.

Other attractions in the park include a museum developed in collaboration with NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, an independent agency of the U.S. federal government responsible for the civil space program, aeronautics and space research.

The Aerospace Institute provides an exhibit hall focused on aerospace developments and events, a gyroscope, photo opportunities, a gift shop and an event terrace.

An additional attraction is an innovative virtual reality platform that allows visitors to experience the sensation of flying freely through different landscapes.

The redesign of the park includes the Planet of Transportation which features a trackless train system developed to improve visitor accessibility and ensure that everyone can navigate the park with ease.

The indoor Dark Ride attraction promises a multi-sensory experience with illuminated scenes, animations, sounds, music and special effects.

The park offers a variety of educational programs aimed at fostering a passion for STEM, acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics through hands-on workshops and interactive exhibits inspiring the next generation of innovators and scientists.

The Archaeological Planet is the area dedicated to education and houses a museum dedicated to the history of Puerto Rico's native aboriginal population and where visitors can channel their inner archeologists by digging for buried treasures.

The Planet of Biodiversity is an area developed for all animal lovers, a space dedicated to reptiles with a Little Explorers place specially prepared for children while A T-Rex House offers an interactive dinosaur exhibit, which is sure to captivate visitors of all ages.

Planet of Time presents Ciudad Torito, a sort of miniature Village that offers a rich culinary experience and has a barbecue area, a restaurant and an event space dedicated to hosting food and art festivals and prepared for Christmas celebrations.

Coffee Fantasy includes a candy shop, ice cream parlour, café and bar, with an outdoor barbecue area developed for savoury options and delicious grilled deli options.

Yunque Rainforest Café is another option that offers an attractive culinary adventure in its lush rainforest-themed setting. In this establishment visitors will enjoy a projector dome at the avant-garde offering very immersive video mapping including a captivating experience in the rainforest of El Yunque feeling truly in this place.

The park also includes a sugar lab, with a candy shop, an ice cream parlor and a dessert area prepared to offer sweet, delicious surprises for visitors.

The Science Park also offers an excellent variety of versatile spaces including open terraces, museum and catering spaces, a video mapping dome developed with the latest technologies, all places that can be customized for conferences, corporate events, social meetings, therefore very suitable for the MICE segment.

As far as accessibility is concerned, the Administration has made sure that all visitors, regardless of age or ability, can explore the areas and attractions of the Science Park.

The design of the complex offers sensory experiences and spaces to accommodate people with different sensory needs, with ramps and other accommodations that are carefully integrated throughout the park.

Tickets to the Science Park start at $25 with affordable access to a world of discovery and exciting entertainment to suit audiences of all ages.

ToroVerde CEO Jorge Jorge enthusiastically declared the development of this project completely different from other parks with the commitment to maintain the essence of one of the most historic and beloved places in Puerto Rico.

The essential concept is to maintain solid roots, incorporating unique elements and technologies to make the park a fun and at the same time educational experience and that is an additional tool for teachers to amplify their curriculum in a different way.

The Mayor of Bayamón Ramón Luis Rivera commented that after the damage caused by Hurricane Maria to the facilities of the Science Park, its reopening represents a great success for an alliance with the private sector.

This new stage of the Science Park is a symbol of a great social, recreational, cultural and economic impact for the community of Bayamón as it becomes a new source of work for the city and undoubtedly a first-class tourist attraction.

Claro Puerto Rico President and CEO Enrique Ortiz de Montellano commented that the installation of Claro's fiber optics and 5G millimeter band in the Science Park represents an important step in the company's commitment to Bayamón and Puerto Rico.
