Puerto Plata officially known as San Felipe de Puerto Plata the capital of the homonymous province on the Dominican Republic's Atlantic north coast, well known for its idyllic beaches including Playa Dorada's lengthy beachfront backed by resorts and a 18 – hole golf course from 20th to 24th September will become the stage for the 1st edition of the Puerto Plata Gastronomic Festival, an event that celebrates the best of the region's cuisine.
The Puerto Plata Gastronomic Festival is sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism and the Administrative Ministry of the Presidency with the co-sponsorship of Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Resort, Banreservas, with the support of the Puerto Plata City Council, Puerto Plata Destination Tourism Cluster, Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Companies of ASHONORTE, Distribuidora Costa Atlantica, AMG Comunica and Evolution Entertainment.
The Festival will take place at the lively and bustling Plaza Independencia with the participation of the famous Dominican chefs Maria Marte and Carlos Estévez as special guests and where the locals and visitors can enjoy a wide range of delicious, gastronomic offers.
Participating restaurants will feature special menus, tastings and activities developed to showcase the culinary diversity of Puerto Plata region and during these five days the city will offer a unique culinary experience, blending local traditions with international influences in a very vibrant and historically rich environment with tastings, dinners, workshops and artistic presentations.
Elvis Peralta, President of Caribe S SRL, the company that manages the Casita Azul and the Isabela, restaurants that host the event, commented in a meeting with the press that this initiative aims to present Puerto Plata as a destination rich in quality gastronomy with an atmosphere designed to enjoy each dish in its special essence.
The choice of Plaza Independencia considered the hall of the city has been designed for the public who will be able to live a unique and authentic experience in an emblematic place surrounded by historic buildings of great beauty such as el Ayuntamiento, El Club de Comerciom la Iglesia Catolica, lLs Casas de las Mellizas, el Bambú, la Casa del Italiano, and the 19th century kiosk symbol of Victorian architecture in Puerto Plata.
As for the attractions that will be part of the program of activities, on September 20th they will feature the famous internationally renowned chef Maria Marte, known separately for her numerous awards for being the only Ibero-American woman in the world to hold two stars from the prestigious Michelin guide and Retro Jazz, notorious group with an artistic proposal under the direction of the musician Pengbian Sang, very talented artist from Santiago de los Caballeros who composed the music of several Dominican movies.
On September 21st it will be the turn of another illustrious guest, that is, chef Carlos Estévez famous for his innovative approach and his talent with the ability to blend traditional Dominican flavors with modern cooking techniques and as an entertainment proposal a musical show with performances by the acclaimed Bonyé group well known for its varied repertoire that includes Bachata,Merengue, Jazz and Son.
Other artistic proposals confirmed at the moment are for the 23rd September with Manerra, a young singer-songwriter who has long positioned himself as a prolific Dominican composer, arreglist and producer of great success and other attractions that will be announced from now on.
