Meliá Hotels International | Expansion and Strengthening in Argentina with Two New Accommodation in Buenos Aires

 

Meliá Hotels International, Spanish hotel chain founded in 1956 with headquarter in Palma de Mallorca, considered the world's leading operator of resorts and occupying the 13th position internationally as a hospitality company, continues to advance with its objectives of expansion and growth by expanding and strengthening its international presence, this time in Argentina adding two new accommodation to its portfolio.

The hospitality group already owns two hotels in Argentina, the first is the Gran Meliá Iguazú located in front of the Iguazu Falls voted as the best hotel in the country at the World Travel Awards and the Meliá Recoleta Plaza, a boutique hotel located in Buenos Aires in the La Recoleta district situated in the northern part of the city, elegant area characterized by French style mansions that are the results of its aristocratic past highlighted by chic indie boutiques, design shops from local creatives and quirky souvenirs stores.

The Iberian group has introduced two new accommodations in its vast portfolio, the Almarena Puerto Retiro and the Almarena Madero Urbano, which will celebrate their opening on 1st November 2024 under the Affiliated by Meliá brand which incorporates hotels with a contemporary design and authentic connection to the local culture with its essence.

These two acquisitions are the result of a new collaboration agreement between Meliá Hotels International and Grupo Almarena, a company dedicated to the exploitation, marketing and operation of all types of hotels in Argentina, laying the foundations for further expansion of the Spanish hotel group in the South American country, promoting a new phase of expansion in particular in the premium and luxury segment.

The Grupo Almarena, which was born as Almarena Apart y Hotel Boutiques,  resort on the Costa del Este, on the Argentinian coast is an established company that this year celebrates its 10th anniversary, has been booming since 2014 by adding accommodation alternatives in the capital of the country, managing to cover the market of international travelers.

The company has been consolidating itself for several years as one of the main emerging players at national level in the hospitality, real estate development and gastronomy sector.

These two new accommodation that will operate under the Affiliated by Meliá brand are located in the country's capital Buenos Aires, in two modern high-end neighborhoods such as Puerto Retiro and Puerto Madero famous for their transformation, trendy profile and avant-garde architecture.

Almarena Madero Urbano Affiliated by Meliá is located in Puerto Madero, a captivating metropolitan area of Buenos Aires in the central Business District occupying a very significant portion of the Rio de la Plata riverbank.

This evamped dockside area, once an industrial port converted with sleek skycrapers house multinational corporations, high-value apartments redbrick building contain upscale steakhouses, chic restaurants, trendy shops, with a lively atmosphere throughout the day on its quays and an excellent starting point to discover the unique charm of Buenos Aires.

The accommodation provides 78 apartments with a modern and functional design equipped with an integrated kitchen at the service of guests, a large swimming pool, two Jacuzzis, a large and equipped gym, a small auditorium and two spacious meeting rooms.

Almarena Puerto Retiro Affiliated by Meliá is located in the trendy Puerto Retiro district, strategically located overlooking the port, close to the lively Avenida Presidente Ramon Castillo and the bustling Avenida Antarctica, Argentina, not far from the Terminal de Cruceros Quinquela Martin.

The accommodation opened in 2023 provides 73 fully equipped apartments with extraordinary views of the neighborhood and the Rio de la Plata, at guests' disposal there are an outdoor swimming pool, a Spa and wellness space, a thermal circuit with saunas, heated pool and treatment cabins, a pilates room, work meeting spaces,  conferences and local events, a versatile multi-purpose hall and an auditorium.

Meliá Hotels International is planning further expansion operations in Argentina with a focus on major destinations such as Bariloche, Calafate, Mendoza, Salta and Ushuaia.

The CEO and President of the Spanish hotel group Gabriel Escarrer declared that the alliance with Grupo Almarena is not only a significant step to consolidate Meliá Hotels International in the Argentine market but also demonstrates the trust of local groups and partners in the company to improve their distribution capacity and benefit from Meliá's renowned brands with its leadership and loyalty program and other valuable resources.

The President of Grupo Almarena, Juan Ignacio Politi, commented that joining the Meliá family represents a real milestone in the life of the company, with the confidence that working together will be of great support to grow in Argentina, adding excellence to the service of the company and creating new opportunities for the tourism sector.
