Venice, wonderful, historic and iconic city in the north-east of the Italian peninsula has inaugurated the new Fusina Cruise Terminal located on the northern edge of the Venetian Lagoon close by the mouth of the Naviglio Brenta.
The construction of the Terminal was made possible thanks to an investment of € 5 million that will allow up to two ships to be hosted simultaneously in home-port mode by Venezia Terminal Passengers which followed all the design and construction phases with the support of the Port System Authority of the Northern Adriatic Sea and Venice Ro-Port Mos, the company that manages the Autostradale del Mare terminal dedicated to ferry traffic in the context of cargo and passengers in which the new terminal is part of and complements the ro-ro activities that will continue to be managed and operated by Venice Ro-Port Mos.
The new infrastructure extends over a single floor for an area of 3.000 square meters that will allow the movement of 400 passengers per hour in an air-conditioned space with 450 seats and 5 desks for check-in.
The first ship to call at home – port on September 5th will be the Silver Ray, the new flagship of the well-known Silversea Cruises ultra-luxury and expedition travel brand, founded in 1994 by the Vlasov Group and the Lefebvre family with its headquarters in Monaco.
The arrival is scheduled for the morning and the ship will leave for its itinerary the same evening stocked with everything necessary and hosting new passengers who will embark directly from the Fusina Terminal.
The Chairman and CEO of Venezia Terminal Passeggeri S.p.A., Fabrizio Spagna, commented that the development of this new terminal is a new milestone for the port of Venice and VTP, helping to lay solid foundations for the realization of a new idea of sustainable and modern cruise industry for the city of Venice and the Veneto region.
From now on it is possible to permanently accommodate two ships in home-port mode without having to count on the support of the Marittima, thus creating an important piece of that program of widespread landings that will represent the model of cruise offer compatible with Venice and respectful of the economic structure of the local territory.
